Hard to Say Goodbye

When I became a teacher, I thought I would teach for only one year. One year became twelve.  At the end of this school year, I will officially close out my tenure as a professional educator. This fall, I will be enrolled full-time at Texas A&M University in College Station, working on my Master's Degree in Human Resource Management.  The program is three semesters, and I'm slated to graduate in December 2019.

Glorious Oman

As a seasoned traveler, it is easy to become complacent and think you "know it all."  My trip to Oman was the fifth time I'd traveled to the Middle East, and I was confident that Oman would feel like the other countries I'd visited.

I've never experienced love at first sight, but I think I understand the concept better because, after one day in Oman, I was in love. The country is a beautiful juxtaposition of tradition and modernity.

The Beauty of Paris and London

Earlier this month, my best friend Chandra and I had the amazing opportunity to travel to Paris and London during my Spring Break. It has been a few years since I've been to Europe and I was excited to visit again.  Paris is one of my favorite cities and I was thrilled that I could share it with Chandra.  Here is a small selection of some of my favorite images.

Welcome 2017

2016 proved to be a daunting and stressful year for many reasons, but as a whole, it was a good year. In planning for this post, it became very clear how blessed I've been this past year.

Jordan: In Pictures

As I've sifted through the images of this trip I've realized how much I've grown as a photographer and as an artist. Ten years ago I took pictures of EVERYTHING, now I am more concerned with trying to find a unique way to preserve what I'm feeling and experiencing. There is no way to fully capture a place in an image, but I hope you enjoy what I've tried to create.

Jordan - Part 6

Monday, we met with Prince Hassan bin Talal, the former crown prince, and uncle of King Abdullah. We’d been trying the whole month to arrange a meeting with a member of the Hashemite royal family, so we were thrilled when we found out that he wanted to come to meet with us. Prince Hassan was kind, wickedly intelligent and very gracious.

Jordan - Part 5

On Saturday we visited the city of As-Salt. It is a lovely place that is situated along three hills with spectacular picturesque views. We spent the day taking a walking tour of the old city. The Salt Development Corporation came up with the idea of an eco-museum. The concept is to see the whole city as a museum, focusing on integrating people's traditional lifestyle with the cultural property. I love that the focus is on people owning their culture and using this model to help preserve their cultural resources. This type of Eco-tourism allows development to happen in a sustainable way.

Jordan - Part 4

We’ve been incredibly lucky to meet some phenomenal individuals who are tirelessly working to improve the lives of people throughout Jordan.
