I finally got around to watching Woody Allen's "Midnight in Paris" and I must admit that I was pleasantly surprised by how charming the story was. The first 4 minutes of the film show the most gorgeous scenes of Paris. The entire movie felt like a love letter to the city. I was not surprised it was nominated for a Best Picture Oscar on Tuesday.
This year marks 5 years since I last visited the City of Lights and the movie awakened in me the burning desire to visit again. I had originally planned to visit Paris for my birthday in April, but unfortunately those plans have fallen through.
Of all the wonderful cities around the world I have visited, Paris still ranks as my favorite large city. Paris has thousands of beautiful buildings and amazing things to see, but my favorite part of the city is the atmosphere. I love walking the streets, smelling all the delicious food and people watching. I know I wasn't the only one feeling inspired and missing Paris this week. One of my favorite photographers, Christa Meola, was also reminiscing this week on her blog about this gorgeous city.
Enjoy some of my favorite photographs from my last trip to Paris. I certainly hope it won't be another five years before I get to return.
